When Black People Are Racist Towards White People
Even Black People Can Be Racist.
A common stereotype is that all white people are racist and all black people are oppressed. What if I told you that wasn’t true? Even people of colour can be racist. There are also those who are mixed race who only identify as black and are intolerant towards white individuals despite being half themselves.
An article by NAS.org mentions that a lot of the thought process surrounding black-on-white racism has to do with the Black Panther movement, which fought racism with racism.
For those unaware, the Black Panther movement had a significant presence in the United States from 1966 to 1982. They focused on Black Power and sticking it to the Oakland Police Department, which was a terror for black people at the time—the party dissolved in 1982.
Racism is a plague that needs to be snuffed out, but the myth that it only affects black people needs to be busted before it can be destroyed.
